Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held talks with his counterpart Wang Yi in Guangxi province on Thursday as part of his official visit to China.

Minister Son urged more balanced and sustainable economic-trade cooperation and asked China to facilitate the import of Vietnamese agricultural products and the establishment of Vietnamese trade promotion offices in China.

He stressed the need to resolve problems in industrial cooperation projects, accelerate regional railway connections in the northern provinces of Vietnam, and expand economic corridors in the "Two Corridors, One Belt" area. The two corridors are the Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh corridor and the Nanning-Lang Son-Hanoi-Hai Phong corridor. The belt is the Gulf of Tonkin Economic Belt.

Mr. Son also proposed establishing a tourism promotion working group, expanding commercial flight operations, and more people-to-people and border locality exchanges.

Mr. Wang urged greater strategic connectivity between the “Belt and Road” initiative and the “Two Corridors, One Belt” framework, and tighter economic, trade, and investment links.

He said China will consider increasing its import of goods, farm produce, and aquatic products from Vietnam, and supports road transport connectivity, the construction of smart border gates to facilitate customs clearance, and stronger education and tourism ties. He added that China will coordinate more closely with Vietnam at regional and global forums.
