The online version of Pasaxon newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), on Saturday published the full message of congratulations from LPRP General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith to Mr. To Lam.
The online publication of the Lao National Radio also carried the full text of Mr. Sisoulith’s congratulatory letter and an article which quoted General Secretary and State President Lam's inaugural speech as stating that he will inherit and uphold the revolutionary achievements by late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and previous generations of leaders.
Mr. Lam vowed to maintain solidarity and unity and, together with the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, resolutely lead and direct the entire Party, people and army to accomplish the goals and tasks set by the 13th National Party Congress, successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress, and steadfastly advance the nation's development in the new period, the article said.
The online publication of the magazine of the People's Public Security of Laos also featured Laos’ top leader Thongloun Sisoulith's congratulatory letter to Party General Secretary and State President Lam.

On Saturday, mainstream media agencies of China, including the Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television, and People's Daily, gave wide coverage of the election of Mr. To Lam. They quoted the speech of the Vietnamese leader following the election. General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, they noted.
Nikkei Asia said Mr. To Lam is expected to inherit the fight against corruption and negativity initiated by the CPV in recent years, as well as maintain Vietnam’s balanced foreign policy.
NHK said amid the attention of many countries, including the US and China, Vietnam is looking to prove its political stability by the swift appointment of a new top leader.
The Sankei newspaper cited an article of Kyodo News on the election of Party General Secretary To Lam, noting that Mr.nLam supports the anti-corruption campaign of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The Yomiuri newspaper also said that Mr. Lam, who used to be Minister of Public Security, plays a key role in the anti-corruption campaign.
Kyodo News commented that there would be no major change in Vietnam’s foreign policy in the current stage.
Many news agencies and newspapers such as AFP of France, TASS of Russia, Bangkok Post of Thailand, and The Straits Times of Singapore also highlighted the new General Secretary’s statement at the international press conference on Saturday on the fight against corruption and negativity.
