First Ha Long Winter Carnival gives visitors brand new experience

(VOVWORLD) - More than 1,000 artists in colorful winter costumes crowded Ha Long city's Tuan Chau international tourism area on Friday, performing samba dances in the first-ever Ha Long Winter Carnival. 

The carnival parade consisted of six performance sections, expressing the theme 'Ha Long-the aspirations of flying dragons'.

Another highlight of the event was a parade of more than 100 cruise ships in the World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

New Year revelers were also wowed by performances of helicopters, seaplanes, and paragliders and sampled delicious local cuisine. 

“I’m so excited. I’m so proud of my homeland, which has been hosting many extravagant events,” said Tran Thi Thuy Linh, a Ha Long resident.

Nguyen Ngoc Son, Vice Chairman of Ha Long city, said, “We plan to hold more such cultural events during winter to attract visitors. The Ha Long Winter Carnival will become an annual event.”
