(VOVworld) - The death of Cuba's Fidel Castro is unlikely to slow down US efforts to normalize relations with Cuba, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said on Monday.

He told reporters that the ice-breaking process is seen in new economic relations, sustainable trade deals, resumption of commercial flights, and the US’s increasing investment in Cuba. Earnest added that any move to unwind the normalizing relations between the US and Cuba over the past two years "would deal a significant economic blow" to Cuban citizens.
In a tweet the same day, US President-elect Donald Trump threatened to terminate thawed US’s relations with Cuba if the island state is unwilling to make what he called a better deal for the Cuban people, Cuban Americans, and the US as a whole.
