(VOVworld) – The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced a preliminary decision to impose anti-subsidy duties on frozen shrimp imported from seven countries including Vietnam. Under the DOC’s decision, products of the Minh Quy Company are subject to a 5.08 percent anti-subsidy duty, while the rate for Nha Trang Seafood is 7.05 percent. Regarding the decision, Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors, said the decision was absolutely unreasonable. He said that the Department based its decision Vietnam’s policies to develop its fishery sector without giving any persuasive factual evidence. He said the DOC has not taken into account loan interest rates and aquatic feed prices in Vietnam, which are far higher than in other countries. Hoe said Vietnamese companies will continue to lobbly for more reasonable duty rates.
