This was the highest volume of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports traded since records have been kept. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association said processed products account for 21% of total fruit and vegetable export turnover.

The US, the EU, Japan, and South Korea favor Vietnamese products. Recently, China has imported more Vietnamese processed and frozen fruits, in addition to fresh products. Canned fruits and bottled juices are favored in the Japanese, US, and European markets.

The export of products made from mango, passion fruit, almonds, and pistachios grew from 22% to 60%.

Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said over the past three years, Vietnam’s processed fruit and vegetable exports to the US increased from 30% to 45% annually and to the EU averages 10% to 20% a year.
