At a ceremony in Hanoi on Friday to receive the 23 maps and 10 other documents in English and Japanese, Dinh Ngoc Trien, head of the museum’s display section, praised Tran Manh Tuan’s contribution. Trien said ‘Collector Tran Manh Tuan hopes that the collection will be made available to the public, proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Archipelagoes. We plan to assess the collection’s value and then exhibit it to the domestic and foreign public.

The same day, the Museum announced 11 new historic objects and opened an exhibition entitled ‘Vietnam’s ancient lamps’. The 11 rare objects include a Ngoc Lu bronze drum and President Ho Chi Minh’s autograph and works. The 50 ancient lamps on display date back 2,500 years.
