The German electronic newspaper DW reported that the Vietnamese Government had given 550,000 antibacterial face masks to the embassies of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK in Hanoi. Euronews reported that Vietnam has also donated masks and medical equipment to Cambodia, Laos, and China.

The German Embassy in Vietnam, on its Facebook page, thanked the Vietnamese Government for giving the German Government 110,000 face masks. The Embassy said that the Vietnamese community in Germany is supporting local authorities in the fight against the pandemic. Thousands of medical face masks, cloth masks, and protective gloves have been collected by Vietnamese expats in Germany for local hospitals, nursing homes, health centers, and police stations. Vietnamese restaurants in Germany have served thousands of free meals to doctors and nurses working at Covid-19 treatment centers. The German Embassy expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese community for its determination to fight the epidemic and for upholding the bilateral friendship through a difficult period.
