Mr. Johnson said he hopes the two countries will reach a commitment on lower greenhouse emissions in 2050.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow seeks a good relationship with Washington. He said Russian president Vladimir Putin remains committed to extending the New START nuclear arms control treaty with the US and welcomes the efforts promised by Joe Biden to reach an agreement.

The US-Philippines relationship has been tested since Rodrigo Duterte took office in 2016 and embarked on months of expletive-laden tirades against the US and threatened repeatedly to scrap their bilateral military agreements.
