(VOVWORLD) - The EU on Thursday reaffirmed that all parties involved will stay committed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JPCOA) despite Iran’s accusation that new US sanctions against Iran violate the nuclear deal.

The sanctions were enacted on Wednesday in response to Iran’s ballistic missile program and Iran’s support for Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran has urged world powers to ease all sanctions in exchange for its suspension of its nuclear weapons program.

A spokeman for Catherine Ray, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said at a conference in Brussels that all parties are still committed to the agreement. Her statement followed a meeting in Vienna late last month attended by both Iran and the EU to discuss implementation of the JPCOA.
