(VOVWORLD) - The European Union summit began on Thursday in Brussels, discussing trade with the US and Turkey, Russia-UK relations, and post-Brexit agreements.

EU leaders cautiously praised a last-minute decision by the US to exempt the EU from steel and aluminum tariffs.

Theybacked British Prime Minister Theresa May in blaming Russia for last week’s nerve agent attack in England. The EU said Russia must provide a reasonable explanation for the poisoning of ex-agent Skripal and his daughter. Russia’s presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called for EU’s restraintin the case.

The summit urged technology companies to strengthen their security to protect people’s personal information after hundreds of millions of Facebook accounts were hacked a few months ago.
