The EU has accepted a British proposal for a transition period on fishing after January 1, 2021, but there is no agreement on how long it should last or how it should work.
This transition period will give the UK time to expand its fleet for new quota fishing and more time for EU fishermen to adapt to the proportion of fish caught in UK waters.
