(VOVworld) – EU is ready to scale up its relations with ASEAN to strategic partnership, said Federica Mougherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy during her just-concluded trip to Indonesia. While working with the ASEAN Secretariat and the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, Mougherini reiterated the EU’s support for ASEAN’s development priorities and the bloc’s commitment to deepening future cooperation with ASEAN.

Mougherini and ASEAN leaders discussed issues related to North Korea’s nuclear program and East Sea disputes. They agreed to work closely together in maritime, cyber security, and response to counter-terrorism, human trafficking, climate change, and epidemics.
