The "drone wall" will be launched by the end of 2026, with full functionality expected by the end of 2027. The system will help counter future incursions using a network of sensors and electronic jammers, thereby enhancing airspace security and coordinated defense efforts among member states.
Last month, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said it was time for Europe to build a "drone wall" to protect its eastern flank, after some 20 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) entered Polish airspace.
