(VOVworld) - The European Parliament on Thursday adopted the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. The deal was signed in late June in Brussels and approved by Moldova’s Parliament in early July. The agreement involves Moldova’s economic integration, legal harmonization between Moldova and its partners pursuant to European standards, and the establishment of a free trade zone. But it will not help Moldova join the EU in the future. In the capital city of Chisinau and elsewhere large-scale demonstrations took place to protest the agreement and call for a referendum on Moldova’s future development direction.
