(VOVworld) - National Assembly deputies convened a plenary session in Hanoi on Wednesday to hear a report on the draft law on the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils and a related verification report. NA Office Chairman Nguyen Hanh Phuc said the law on election was an important and basic political act regulating the rights of citizens to vote and nominate according to the Constitution. He added that the draft law should uphold democracy, fine-tune election mechanisms and follow the Constitution to ensure citizens’ rights are fully observed.

Voters attended the 13th National Assembly and People’s Council Elections in Ha Nam Province.

On the same day, lawmakers debated revisions to the vocational training law. They proposed that the law restructure and specify regulations on vocational training targets to ensure labor balance and restructuring. This will be the basis for the government to design and issue an appropriate national framework for vocational levels. Pham Thi Hai, a deputy from Dong Nai province, said: “Vocational training targets should include patriotism, political awareness, and professional responsibility. The incident in May 2014 in some localities demonstrated that workers’ political awareness and patriotism were inappropriate. They were abused by subversive elements to harm Vietnam’s investment and business environment. Therefore, education on political awareness is important.”
