Treasurer of the ETAA Ahmed Ibrahim said Egyptian officials are negotiating with families of the other five victims to close the case definitively.

Last September, while raiding terrorists in Egypt's Western Desert, Egyptian security forces attacked by mistake four vehicles transporting Mexican tourists. The attack created tensions between Egypt and Mexico. Egypt’s Ministry of Home Affairs said the vehicles had entered a restricted zone. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto condemned the attack, requested an immediate investigation, and demanded compensation for the eight tourists who were killed.
