Tuan addressed a discussion "E-commerce - opportunities, motivations and challenges" organized by the Government Information Portal in Hanoi on Wednesday. “The door is wide open for e-commerce in Vietnam to reach the world average. The Ministry of Information and Communications has closely coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of Commerce and Digital Economy, to jointly implement a program to promote digital transformation of businesses, households, wholesale and retail shops,” he said.
According to a report by the E-commerce Association, Vietnam's e-commerce continues to record strong development with an estimated growth rate of over 25% last year, with revenue totaling 25 billion USD. On average, domestic consumers spend 32 million USD every day on five e-commerce giants: Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, Sendo and Tiktok.
In Vietnam, hundreds of thousands of businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, have joined e-commerce platforms and reaped profits.
CEO of Shopee Vietnam Tran Tuan Anh said that after the Covid-19 period, the company has supported thousands of businesses to take part in e-commerce platforms and their revenue as increased sharply compared to traditional business. The company is now supporting businesses to access more markets through training programs on new approaches or livestream sales skills.
