Mr. Juncker said at an economic forum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, that Brexit would open a period of instability, both in Britain and the EU, and also globally, and this should be avoided. He said the EU will not be in danger if Britain leaves, because the EU will continue close internal cooperation.

Britain’s “Leave” and “Remain” campaigns were halted Thursday after Jo Cox, a Labor Party politician and Member of Parliament (MP), was shot and stabbed in Yorkshire. Ms. Cox was among the first MPs to voice support for Britain remaining in the EU. She was declared dead Thursday night.
