Cambodian Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ASEAN Summits spokesman Kong Phok told the press on Friday that the East Sea issue captured interest and comprehensive discussion by ASEAN leaders.

They reiterated the importance and responsibility of countries in maintaining peace, stability and security in the East Sea while emphasized on the full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and early finalization of the Code of Conduct for Parties in the East Sea in line with international law.

Kong Phok expected that face to face discussion and more active participation by parties after the pandemic will facilitate an early completion of the COC.
