According to a report posted on science magazine Nature Communications, the newly found antibody can neutralize SARS-CoV-2, opening a possibility of curing the disease. Researchers said the fully human monoclonal antibody prevents the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus from infecting cultured cells.
This discovery provides a strong foundation for additional research to characterize this antibody and begin development as a potential COVID-19 treatment.
The antibody will be tested on animals and human before being used in treatment.
