Established in 2005, the Department has advised, directed, and carried out drug and crime prevention in the nation’s border areas and waters.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh addressed the award ceremony in Hanoi: “Together with the army, the border guards and the drug and crime prevention forces have overcome difficulties to contribute to the revolutionary cause, and firmly defended the nation's sovereignty and security.”

He said he believes “the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention and Control will continue to be worthy of the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces that the Party and State have conferred on it today.”
