According to Andrew Jeffries, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank and Chairman of Disaster Risk Reduction Partnership, the ADB is operating an emergency fund for Asia-Pacific countries, which he hopes will support flood-hit localities in Vietnam.
He said by last Saturday, the Disaster Risk Reduction Partnership had committed 3 million USD for disaster relief effort in central Vietnam. It promises more assistance for Vietnam at the coming meeting of the UN organizations on Tuesday, Jeffries added.
At least 130 people have been killed by floods and landslides in central Vietnam in the past few weeks.
