Islamabad on Tuesday summoned an Indian diplomat to protest a Pakistani diplomatic officer and his driver who were attacked by local people in New Delhi. At the meeting, according to Pakistani radio, Islamabad requested Indian government to immediately open a comprehensive investigation to punish attackers. Pakistan said that this case has violated the Vienna Convention on the protection of diplomatic personnel and asked New Delhi to tighten measures of protection for Pakistani diplomatic personnel. The Indian Foreign Ministry confirmed this case and said that police arrived in time to secure the two Pakistani officers and brought them to the nearest health center. During talks with Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas, the Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid said was sorry about the attack and that Indian police have arrested one of the attackers. He also stressed that Indian government will tighten security measures in order to avoid similar situations.
