The Revolutionary People’s Liberation Front (DHKP-C) said on its website that one of its female militants carried out the attack. Earlier, daily newspaper Yeni Safak confirmed that Hatice Asik, an Turkist female shot at the police team stationed in front of the US consulate in Istanbul, then ran to a nearby building and was subsequently arrested and taken to hospital by police. The outlawed radical group said they will not halt their acts of terrorism demanding their rights.
