Although China, the US, and the EU pledged to release a preliminary plan to reduce greenhouse gases after 2020, there are many tasks still to be done to reach a global comprehensive agreement on climate change, delegates said. The UN group of experts on climate change released a report indicating that greenhouse gases had to be reduced to 0 per cent by 2100 to diminish any possible consequences caused by climate change.
Vietnam is one of the first countries to submit the biennial update report (BUR1) to the Convention Secretariat. Vietnam will hold a number of events on the summit’s sidelines, such as a meeting regarding the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action, submitting a greenhouse gases calculation report, and preparing for a report on greenhouse gas statistics in Vietnam. The head of Vietnam’s delegation is scheduled to deliver a speech at the summit’s high-ranking session.
