(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa from Nepal, who is on a visit to Vietnam from April 5 to 21.

Mr. Phuc said that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha was the sole representative of Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers in Vietnam. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has engaged in various activities to benefit society and religion and international activities to promote the Buddha’s teachings in other countries.

He informed His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha would host the UN Vesak Day, Buddha's Birthday, Enlightenment and Passing Away, on May 8-10. Mr. Phuc said the hosting showed Vietnam’s policy of respecting and ensuring people’s freedom of religion and belief and promoting religion’s cultural and moral values in society.
