|Deputy PM Le Van Thanh attends virtually the high-level session "RCEP Spurs Higher-level Opening Up"
In his address, Mr. Thanh highlighted the important role of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in post-pandemic recovery, trade liberalization, and regional and global economic connectivity.
He said as ASEAN Chair in 2020 and Chair of RCEP negotiation, Vietnam promoted and brought into play the central and the leading role of ASEAN to have the agreement signed in November, 2020.
The Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister said in the current context, RCEP member economies need to strengthen trust and cooperation, fully, effectively implement agreements and commitments, and focus on infrastructure connections, digital transformation, clean energy, and circular economy in order to move toward sustainable development, balance, inclusiveness and transparency.
He asked China and other major economies to help ASEAN countries to take advantage of opportunities created by RCEP.
CIIE is one of China’s major fairs held annually since 2008. This year, Vietnam is one of 10 countries invited to participate in the event virtually. Around 100 Vietnamese businesses are showcasing their products at the event.
