Da Nang was the venue for the world’s largest triathlon race, the VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam 2023, with more than 3,000 athletes participating on Reunification Day, April 30, and May Day, May 1.

The first Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF I) was also held in Da Nang, attracting many Vietnamese and foreign directors, actors, actresses, and movie fans.

Mr. Ha Vy, deputy director of Da Nang’s Department of Culture and Sports, said, “The Film Festival has boosted the image of Da Nang, which has been recognized as Asia's leading festival and event destination by several magazines. Da Nang aims to develop its film industry as a spearhead sector.”

Da Nang has long been considered Asia’s leading festival and event destination. Many cultural events, including the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival are scheduled to take place in Da Nang this year.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, deputy director of Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, said, “The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival will contribute to the recovery of Da Nang’s tourism after COVID-19.”

Da Nang welcomed 1.4 million of visitors in the first quarter of this year, a 4.6-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
