In 2011, the Ministry of National Defense approved a project to disinfect dioxin-contaminated land and mud at Da Nang airport, which was a US air base during the war. The project had received funds in excess of 100 million USD from the US government’s ODA while 2.6 million USD was provided by the Vietnamese side. The project has successfully treated 32 ha of contaminated land and mud while most health risks posed by dioxin exposure have been eradicated.
