Czech media on Wednesday covered talks between President Milos Zeman and President Tran Dai Quang about opening a direct air route between the two countries, exempting Czech tourists to Vietnam from visa requirements, and signing an extradition agreement.
The online newspaper Novinky reported that the two Presidents agreed to grant visa exemptions to Czech tourists and establish a direct flight connecting Prague and HCM City. The Czech Republic will open a Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in the near future.
Czech radio and the Mlada Fronta DNES newspaper reported the signing of a two-way extradition agreement. The Czech Republic has similar agreements with Thailand and China’s Hong Kong.
Czech media also ran stories on a new cooperative agreement between the two countries’ police forces to exchange information and collaborate on measures to fight drug trafficking.
According to the Halo Noviny newspaper, the voice of the Czech-Morava Communist Party, at the Czech-Vietnam Business Forum the two business communities signed 7 contracts and MoUs in pharmacy, fiber optics, public administration automation, and construction of a hotel complex worth 20 million USD at a Vietnamese resort.
