Speaking to the press on Friday, Plenković said the proposed Board of Peace would constitute a new international mechanism aimed at advancing peace, promoting economic investment, and addressing conflicts in the Gaza Strip as well as in other regions worldwide. He stressed, however, that Croatia would approach the matter with due caution before taking any further steps.
Plenković added that, at the governmental level, he had instructed the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the initiative, including its implications under international law, its relationship with existing frameworks, particularly those of the United Nations, and its consistency with Croatia’s obligations as a member of the European Union. Upon completion of this review, the government will brief the President and undertake consultations regarding Croatia's potential accession to the initiative.
