COVID-19 in Vietnam: Tuesday’s new infections total 14,440

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded 14,440 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health. 

Hanoi continued to report the highest number of new infections (1,920), followed by Tay Ninh province  (923) and Vinh Long province (911).

The national tally now stands at 1,680,985 including 1,264,282 recoveries and 31,632 deaths. 

More than than 147 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide to date.

Also on Tuesday, Vietnam confirmed its first case of the Omicron variant, who is a male returnee from the UK.
