COVID-19 claims 4.4 million lives

(VOVWORLD) - The world had recorded more than 213 million COVID-19 infections and 4.45 million deaths as of Tuesday, according to wordometers.com.

The US remains the hardest-hit country, with more than 38 million infections and nearly 646,000 deaths. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the number of new infections and deaths continue to rise, driven by the Delta variant. The Delta variant accounts for nearly 99% of new cases in the US.

India ranks second with nearly 32.5 million infections, and more than 435,000 deaths.
