Countries raise travel warning level against new coronavirus

(VOVWORLD) - The US State Department has raised its travel warning to Level 3, warning passengers to "reconsider travel" to China as the Wuhan coronavirus spreads in the world.

The warning said there are no effective measures to prevent the disease from spreading. It could transmit from human to human and old people with health problems are particularly vulnerable to the virus. The new travel advisory for China was announced on Monday, and comes as airlines have begun issuing waivers for individuals with planned travel who are worried about the virus.

The US government is planning to evacuate diplomats and citizens from the coronavirus epicenter. The US consulate is reportedly reaching out to about 240 Americans in Wuhan to offer them a seat on a charter flight scheduled for Wednesday.  

Canada has also issued a warning to its citizens  not to travel to Wuhan and the medical system is on high alert against the epidemic.

The first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in Germany, a spokesman for the Bavarian Health Ministry announced late Monday. The man who contracted the virus is from Starnberg, 30 kilometers south of Munich, and is in a "medically good state." The German government is planning to evacuate its about 90 German citizens from Wuhan.

Japan has designated coronavirus as special infectious disease. A cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided that the government can legally order infected patients to be hospitalized and impose restrictions on their work activities to prevent further spread of a disease.

The Chinese authorities have confirmed 106 dead since the outbreak of the new coronavirus epidemic in the country. There are over 6970 suspected cases.

The epidemic has been detected in 14 countries including Thailand, Australia, Singpaire, Malaysia, France, South Korea, Japan, the US, and Vietnam

Vietjet Air said if the authorities approve, it can arrange flights to Wuhan to take Vietnamese citizens back to Vietnam. The flight procedures will follow international healthcare and aviation regulations and Vietnamese law to ensure safety for passengers and crews.
