Mr. Hue addressed the 3rd National Farmers’ Forum in Hanoi on Sunday, saying farmers must be more active in being part of the linkage and that the State only plays a supporting role. The Deputy PM pledged to improve policies to develop agriculture and promote trade and investment. Mr. Hue said Vietnam has 10 agricultural staples with export turnover exceeding 1 billion USD. The export of vegetables and fruits has surpassed crude oil and is expected to earn 4 billion USD this year.

At the forum, participants questioned economists, policymakers, and leaders on building quality and image of Vietnamese agricultural produce, developing markets, cooperation between farmers and businesses, and response to protectionism.

The 3rd National Farmers’ Forum was organized by the Vietnam Farmers’ Union, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It was part of the “Proud of Vietnamese Farmers” Program, which culminated in the honoring of 63 outstanding farmers event in Hanoi on Sunday night.
