(VOVWORLD) - Representatives from Vietnam’s garment, textile, footwear, wood furniture, and beverage sectors together with economists discussed opportunities and challenges of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement in HCMC on Thursday.

Experts said CPTPP countries will remove 78% to 95% of tariff lines for Vietnamese products for export to their countries at the initial stage, and 100% at the end phase.

Vo Tan Thanh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “One of our challenges is a lack of competitiveness on the part of the economy and individual businesses compared to foreign businesses. Export regulations are complicated. For example, footwear businesses have to thoroughly study each market to take advantage of the particular rules.”
