The founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam changed the country's destiny. Based on the political foundation of Marxism-Leninism, the Communist Party of Vietnam always considers national interests as its interests. It has pursued the sacred goal of ensuring national independence, freedom, and peace and realizing people’s aspiration for strength and prosperity. President Ho Chi Minh affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam has no other interests but the interests of the homeland, classes and the nation,

Vietnam’s achievements since the founding of the Party have been the evidence of the Party’s important leadership. In 1945, the whole nation participated in the general uprising initiated by the Party to establish the first people’s democratic state in Southeast Asia. It was followed by Vietnam’s victories against the French colonialists and American aggressors and in other struggles to defend the nation.

Today, the Communist Party of Vietnam continues to be persistent with the goal of ensuring national interests which were clearly reflected in the Party and State strategy to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic of protecting people’s lives and ensuring social security despite economic losses. That strategy is also vividly reflected in Vietnam’s timely policies to ensure social security and help workers and businesses overcome the pandemic’s difficulties. The Party and State have also paid special attention to people in ethnic minority, mountain, island, and border areas to help them improve the living standard and reduce poverty.
