According to the statement posted on the ministry’s website, China’s Deputy Prime Minister, He Lifeng, will visit Sweden from July 27 to July 30 for the trade talks with US officials.
The announcement was made amid growing international concern about new developments in China–US economic and trade relations, following negotiations in London in early June, where the two sides reached a framework for cooperation.
A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce said that economic and trade negotiations between China and the US will be based on the common understanding between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, reached during their phone call on June 5.
