China, US engage in heated debate on Ukraine at UNSC meeting

(VOVWORLD) - The US and China clashed in a heated debate on the Ukraine conflict on Friday during one of the most intense meeting of the UN Security Council so far this year.

Acting US Ambassador to the UN Dorothy Shea called on China to stop exports to Russia of dual-use goods, referring to products that have both civilian and military applications. Washington claimed these products contribute to Russia’s defense industrial base and enable its drone and missile attacks on Ukraine.

China's deputy UN Ambassador Geng Shuang rejected the accusations, insisting Beijing is not a party to the conflict and has "strictly controlled dual-use materials, including the export of drones." Geng urged the US to stop creating confrontation "and instead play a more constructive role in promoting a ceasefire and peace talks."
