At least 21 firefighters are among the dead, with another 721 people injured after the blasts at a warehouse storing hazardous materials. The death toll is likely to increase because authorities have not yet listed all the missing. Tianjin City’s authorities mobilized relevant forces to clean up the scene. They asked chemical experts to localize polluted areas in order to minimize the spread of chemical pollution to the Bohai Sea. Firefighters are continuing their work on the scene.
An estimated 17,000 households and more than 2,000 enterprises and shops suffered losses in the incident.
