Casualties from China’s Tianjin blasts increase

(VOVworld) – The death toll from 2 massive explosions Wednesday in the Chinese north-western city of Tianjin has increased to 50, 17 of the victims are fire-fighters. The number of injured increased to 700.

The Tianjin Port Corporation said there are still many people missing and search-and-rescue operations are underway.
The news website of China’s People’s Daily Newspaper said a shipment of explosives had detonated. The Chinese National Earthquake Bureau said the first explosion was equal to 3 tons of TNT and the second one was equal to 21 tons of TNT. Russia, the UK, and France sent their condolences to the families of the victims.
