(VOVworld) - China’s illegal placed oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf has moved approximately 4 nautical miles to the east by north east, announced Ha Le, Deputy Head of Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Department at a press briefing in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Le said by 10 am Tuesday, the oil rig has been anchored at 15° 33.38 N and 111° 34.62 E, about 25 nautical miles east by southeast of Tri Ton island of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, and 23 nautical miles east by northeast of its previous position, about 150 nautical miles from Ly Son island.
