During their meeting, Li underlined that the two sides need to resolve some sensitive issues. Abe emphasized Japan’s efforts to improve its relationship with China.
The two sides agreed to restart talks on the issue of oil and gas exploitation in the East China Sea and agreed to work toward prompt implementation of communication mechanisms that will prevent any military clashes in the East China Sea. They agreed to hold a high-level economic dialogue early next year after a 6-year hiatus.
