(VOVWORLD) -Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping called for a fair and more reasonable global order based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect.

China’s top leader on Monday addressed the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO in the port city of Tianjin, attended by 10 leaders of member states and 16 leaders of dialogue partners.

"The SCO always stands on the side of international fairness and justice, champions inclusiveness and mutual learning between civilizations, and opposes hegemonism and power politics, thus becoming a proactive force for world peace and development," he said.

“The current international situation is becoming chaotic and intertwined,” President Xi said. “We must adhere to fairness and justice, oppose Cold War mentality, camp confrontation, and bullying behaviour.”

The SCO has set a “model for a new type of international relations”, he added and urged members to strengthen cooperation.

China announced a major support package for the bloc, including 2 billion yuan (280 million USD) in grants to member states, and proposed the establishment of an SCO development bank, a center for countering security threats and center for countering drugs. Xi Jinping also called for increased cooperation in energy, infrastructure, science and technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

Observers said the presence of many heads of state at the SCO Summit 2025 reflects the growing influence of this organization and the multipolar trend in international relations.
