(VOVWORLD) - A ceremony was held at the National Assembly headquarters in Hanoi on Wednesday to mark the 75th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and the Tan Trao National Congress.

The ceremony was attended by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Chairman of the National Assembly Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc reviewed Vietnam’s heroic history. He said that founding the Vietnam National Assembly was a remarkable achievement and a vital requirement for the Revolution. The National Assembly is a symbol of national independence and solidarity, and the embodiment of the people’s strong will. For the past 75 years the National Assembly has overseen Vietnam's development and fulfilled its role as the people’s highest representative and Vietnam’s most powerful organization.

During the ceremony Ms. Ngan awarded the Labor Order and the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to socialism building and national construction and defense. She urged them to continue to uphold the National Assembly’s traditions, faithfully serve the country and its people, and contribute to Vietnam’s renovation and development.
