(VOVworld) – Three storms namely Usagi, Wutip, and Nari that landed in central Vietnam over the past month have claimed 51 lives, injured 600 others, causing an estimated loss of more than 750 million USD. Reports from the Vietnam Fatherland Front revealed that more than 122,000 houses were damaged together with thousands of hectares of crops. The Front has proposed the government to support households affected by the storms with capital to resume their productions. The Vietnam Fatherland Front has received donations from individuals and organizations worth nearly 4 million USD and other goods of necessity to help people in central Vietnam overcome the floods and storms’ aftermaths.

In another development, Party Politburo member Le Hong Anh on Saturday visited Vinh Linh district in Quang Tri province to supervise activities to recover from typhoon Wutip. The typhoon claimed 22 lives in the district while damaging more than 9000 houses and 1700 buildings, and destroying 5500 hectares of rubber trees, causing a loss estimated at 95 million USD. Le Hong Anh said that the government is calculating the damages to set aside money from the state budget to support the affected areas. He urged the local authorities to find the suitable crops for areas prone to floods and storms while devising plans to help local people to access capital and loans to resume their productions and stabilize their lives.
