During a working trip to Kratie province on Saturday, Prime Minister Hun Sen said he will not allow any group or individual to use the country as a hostage for political interests.
He underlined that any act of a coup's characteristics is unacceptable. Mr. Hun Sen affirmed that political measures must be taken via negotiations and the National Assembly, instead of street demonstrations.
Cambodia is in a political crisis relating to the results of the general election last July. The ruling CPP won 68 parliamentary seats and the opposition CNRP got the remaining 55 seats. CNRP claimed election frauds and refused to accept the outcome, and has since then boycotted parliament and staged anti-government protests.
