(VOVworld) – The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has the largest number of candidates registering for election in the second council polls at all levels.

According to the country’s National Election Committee (NEC), from February 27 to March 3, four political parties had registered to run in the election. The CPP has the most number of registers at 25 Councils in the capital and provinces as well as 197 cities and districts. It is followed by the Cambodia National Rescue Party, the National United Front for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Cooperative Cambodia (FUNCINPEC), and the League for Democracy Party.

The National Election Committee said registration for the council election lasted for 5 days starting from February 27. The elections will be held on May 18.
