(VOVworld) – The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) announced details of a draft election law and another draft law on the formation of a National Election Committee (NEC) which will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval. The two draft laws were written by experts in the two parties following an agreement reached by Prime Minister Hun Sen and CNRP President Sam Rainsy last July. The agreement has brought an end to the opposition's 10-month parliamentary boycott.  The bills are designed to ensure free and fair elections and prevent post-election deadlock in the future.  Since CNRP official Eng Chhay Eang said that in the next elections in 2018, the number of parliamentary seats will increase from 123 to 125. According to Senior CPP official Sek Bunhok, the new draft law stipulates that parties will lose their seats for boycotting the parliament after an election.
